MORE INFORMATION

CDEs, LDEs, Agriscience Fair, and more

Showcase your research and understanding

Students participating in the Agriscience Fair develop research projects about various agriculture industries and present their research to judges in both an interview and a written report. Middle school and high school students can participate individually or in two-person teams in one of six categories. Check with your advisor to see which events are scheduled for your area.

AKA Career Development Events and Leadership Development Events

CDEs and LDEs are competition events in the fields of career development and leadership development, respectively. Examples of CDEs are Ag Sales, Veterinary Science, Livestock Judging, and Floral Design. Examples of LDEs are Creed Speaking (freshmen only), Prepared Public Speaking, Extemporaneous Public Speaking, and Job Interview. See a full list of available CDEs and LDEs here. Check with your advisor to see which events are scheduled for your area.

DEGREES

A testament to your FFA commitment

Degrees include the Discovery (7th and 8th grade students only), Greenhand, Chapter, State, and American. Requirements, such as hours worked or money earned/invested, vary for each degree. Check your FFA Manual or FFA Student Handbook for more details. Contact your advisor if you wish to apply for one of these degrees.

Celebrating skill development

Any FFA member with an eligible SAE can compete in Proficiency Awards! These awards recognize individuals for the career-related skills they develop from work on their SAEs. According to the National FFA Organization, a SAE "must be agricultural in nature, fit into at least one nationally recognized agriculture, food and natural resource (AFNR) pathway and meet the description of the
award area in which they apply" to be eligible for a Proficiency Award. Check with your advisor to determine whether your SAE meets these qualifications.
